Dana Popa (Romanian, b.1977) completed her master’s degree in Documentary Photography and Photojournalism at the London College of Communication in 2006. Prior to that she studied at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication Studies of the University of Bucharest, Romania.


She is currently working as a freelance photographer mostly in Eastern Europe and the United Kingdom, specializing in contemporary social issues with a particular emphasis on human rights. In 2009/2010 Dana Popa exhibited her work at the Impressions Gallery Bradford, UK and Photofusion Gallery, London, UK.


In 2010 her series not Natasha received the Project Competition First Prize at Center Awards, Santa Fe and in 2007 the Jerwood Photography Award, as well as the Jury Prize in the Days Japan International Photojournalism Awards. This series has been commissioned by Autograph ABP London and resulted in a book entitled 'not Natasha', published in spring 2009.
