Mona Simon is a freelance documentary Photographer based in the UK, Germany and Romania. Her projects focus largely on cultural, anthropological and social topics. Simon's work is rooted in her own identity, a vanishing German, Transylvanian Saxon and Hungarian minority, living in what today is Romania.

Simon studied Media and Graphic Design at the University of the Arts Bremen, under the guidance of Award winning Photographer Peter Bialobrzeski. She spent one semester in Havana, Cuba where she photographed a major project based on her own experiences with Romanian communism and the Western capitalism. After graduating in Bremen she worked as a graphic designer and freelance photographer in Germany, later completing an MA in Photojournalism & Documentary Photography at London College of Communication, London in 2008.
